Dr Burns Retirement after 24 Years

On 30th September Dr Katherine Burn retired from practice – initially to take a three month break and then look for a new role, possibly teaching medical students. Although Dr Burn did asked the practice not to advertise this process widely in her last months we hope these aspects from the hand-out she provided for patients will help.

Dr Burn stated ‘. . it has been a privilege to look after you over the past 24 years. Thank you for sharing your hopes and dreams, your thoughts and fears, your cares and concerns. Thank you for teaching me the strong family values of Blackburn people and for appreciating the time and care I have given you. Thank you for your cards, gifts, prayers and generosity of spirit.

I am leaving the practice in good hands.’ Dr Hereward Brown and Denise Haworth (Advanced Nurse Practitioner) are working closely with the team from Redlam and Witton Surgeries and new GP Dr Mohammed Hussain Moosa is working regularly in preparation for joining as a partner. Over the coming months Dr Helen McKeating, Dr Sofia Ahmed and Dr Alan Calow together with the team at Limefield will move toward joint working of the surgeries.

We have a new Practice Manager Lynda Marsh, and a new Assistant Practice Manager David Marsh, both from Redlam Surgery. They are going to help Dr Brown go forward and everyone at Limefield will be working very closely with the staff at Redlam.  Dr Brown, Denise our Advanced Nurse Practitioner, our practice nurses Pat and Emma, Maxine our health care assistant and all our receptionists, admin staff and cleaning staff will continue to look after you.

Dr Burn ended ‘With my thoughts and best wishes for all of you.’
